Shemá Israel

Eu gosto de começar minhas orações diárias recitando o Shemá Israel.
Esta é considerada a oração mais importante do Judaísmo e nela estão presentes valores básicos passados a Moisés pelo Criador. Ela consiste de três passagens da Torá (ou do Antigo Testamento).

I like to start my daily prayers by reciting the Shema Yisrael.
This is considered to be the most important prayer in Judaism and contains basic values passed down to Moses by the Creator. It consists in three sections of the Torah (or Old Testament).

Sh'ma Yisrael Adonai Elohaynu Adonai Echad.
Barukh Shem k'vod malkhuto l'olam va-ed
V-ahavta et Adonai Elohecha b-chol l'vavcha u-v-chol naf'sh'cha u-v-chol m'odecha.
V-hayu ha-d'varim ha-ayleh asher anochi m'tzav'cha ha-yom al l'vavecha.
V-shinantam l-vanecha, v-dibarta bam
b-shivt'cha b-vaytecha, u-v-lecht'cha ba-derech, u-v-shachb'cha u-v-kumecha.
U-k'shartam l'ot al yadecha, v-hayu l-totafot bayn aynecha.
U-chtavtam al m'zuzot baytecha u-vi-sharecha.

Ouve, Israel, A-do-nai é nosso D’us, A-do-nai é Um.
Bendito seja o nome da glória de Seu reino para toda a eternidade. (em um tom mais baixo) Amarás a A-do-nai, teu D’us, com todo teu coração, com toda tua alma e todas as tuas forças.
Os mandamentos que hoje te dou serão gravados no teu coração.
Tu os inculcarás a teus filhos, e deles falarás, seja sentado em tua casa, seja andando pelo caminho; ao te deitares e ao te levantares.
Ata-los-ás à tua mão como sinal e os levarás como uma faixa frontal diante dos teus olhos.
Tu os escreverás nos umbrais e nas portas de tua casa.


Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One.
Blessed be the Name of His glorious kingdom for ever and ever
(in an undertone).
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
And these words that I command you today shall be in your heart.
And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and you shall speak of them when you sit at home, and when you walk along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.
And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Se obedecerdes aos mandamentos que hoje vos prescrevo, se amardes o Senhor servindo-o de todo o vosso coração e do toda vossa alma, derramarei a chuva em seu tempo, a chuva do outono e a da primavera, e recolherás o teu trigo, teu vinho e teu óleo; darei erva aos teus campos para os teus animais e te alimentarás até ficares saciado. Tende cuidado que o vosso coração não seja seduzido e vos desvieis do Senhor para servir a deuses estranhos, rendedo-lhes culto e prostrando-vos diante deles. A cólera do Senhor se inflamaria contra vós e Ele fecharia os céus: a chuva cessaria de cair e não haveria mais colheita no vosso solo, de modo que não tardaríeis a perecer nesta boa terra que o Senhor vos dá.
Gravai, pois, profundamente em vosso coração e em vossa alma estas minhas palavras; prendei-as às vossas mãos como um sinal, e levai-as como uma faixa frontal entre os vossos olhos. Ensinai-as aos vossos filhos, falando-lhes delas seja em vossa casa, seja em viagem, quando vos deitardes ou levantardes. Escreve-as nas ombreiras e nas portas de tua casa para que se multipliquem os teus dias e os dias de teus na terra que o Senhor jurou a seus pais dar-lhes, e sejam tão numerosos como os dias do sol sobre a terra.


So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul- then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and oil. I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.
Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them. Then the LORD's anger will burn against you, and he will shut the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce, and you will soon perish from the good land the LORD is giving you. Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.

O Senhor disse a Moisés: "Dize aos israelitas que façam para eles e seus descendentes borlas nas extremidades de suas vestes, pondo na borla de cada canto um cordão de púrpura violeta. Fareis essas borlas para que, vendo-as, vos recordeis de todos os mandamentos do Senhor e os pratiqueis, e não vos deixais levar pelos apetites de vosso coração e de vossos olhos que vos arrastam à infidelidade. Desse modo vós vos lembrareis de todos os meus mandamentos e os praticareis, e sereis consagrados ao vosso Deus. Eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus, que vos tirei do Egito para ser o vosso Deus. Eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus."


The LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'Throughout the generations to come you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments, with a blue cord on each tassel. You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the LORD, that you may obey them and not let yourselves get carried away by the appetites of your own hearts and eyes that drag you to infidelity. Then you will remember to obey all my commands and will be consecrated to your God. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD your God.' "

O trecho em hebraico eu copiei na internet (já há algum tempo, infelizmente me esqueci de tomar nota da fonte) e dei uma incrementada no photoshop. A transliteração também não lembro a fonte.

The hebrew section I copied some time ago from the web (unfortunately I forgot to take note the source) and photoshopied to make it look a bit cooler. I also don't remember the source of the transliteration.
